Once a high school English teacher, I now work for defeatHIV as their Community Engagement Coordinator. defeatHIV is a public+private research group based at Fred Hutch devoted to the cure of HIV. We focus our energies on developing innovative and novel strategies to abrogate the spread of this debilitating virus. Our core technologies utilize the latest cell and genome engineering approaches to create HIV-resistant cells for transplant, and to seek out and destroy HIV in its hiding places throughout the body. I also sing with a native medicine drum for queer people, write poetry, create digital art and music videos.
